Warsaw Jewish Ghetto

A September 3, 1941, official mail cover from the Kraków office for the care of war-wounded to a Warsaw resident, forwarded to an address in the Warsaw ghetto, received at the Jewish Postal Agency on September 7, and marked on the flap with the boxed Jewish Council censor mark. A penciled notation on the flap states “addressee unknown.” The straight-line red handstamped mark states “chargeable official matter,” so upon its September 18 return, a postage due fee of 24 groschen was collected.
