The Mengele Letters

In 2010, the foundation began exhibiting two letters from Nazi SS Doctor Josef Mengele. These handwritten letters were written by Josef Mengele to his wife, Irene, in 1944 while Mengele was stationed in the Auschwitz concentration camp. The letters offer rare insight into the life and mind of the man who has been nicknamed the “Angel of Death” and the “God of Auschwitz” for his seeming mastery over who lived and who died in the camp.
